Croatian Trends

I recently took a weekend trip to Zagreb, Croatia and I could not help but take note of all of the different fashion trends that I saw in comparison to what I have seen in Paris.
With the weather in Zagreb being slightly colder than what I have been experiencing in Paris, I noticed that there was a lot more use of the puffer jacket. Now I do see puffer jackets being worn on a regular basis here, and being from Texas I even brought one myself knowing that I was going to struggle in the cold weather. However, most Parisians tend to turn towards the mid length trench coat style jackets, something that I have yet to purchase for myself. While in Croatia it seems that almost everyone had on puffer jackets, sometimes even full length ones, and with the cold temperatures and occasional snow throughout the day I can see why.
Another thing that I noticed, something that I was actually dazzled by, was the incorporation of fur. I came to Paris with a mental image of women walking around in their partially fur coats and I have now learned that that is just what a tourist who is trying too hard would wear. In Zagreb, if you were not wearing a puffer jacket, you were wearing a fur coat. And if you were on the wealthier side, that fur was authentic. I saw many older women going on their morning walks wearing some of the most attention grasping fur coats that I had ever seen, and they were everywhere. I even came across one of the fur stores and could not help but take a peak. The sales associate did no hesitate to tell me

where their selection of furs came from, and although way out of my price range, I had a fun time walking around the store in awe of it all. I cannot say that I have taken the time to look, but I have not come across a store like this in Paris. I have the feeling that fur may be generally looked down upon here, but I suppose that it is no worse than the luxury leather bags produced in France.
I had a lot of fun in Croatia and I am glad that I was able to visit, but I think that it is too cold for me. I don't have much use for a fur coat and I am not too keen on the idea of needing to wear my puffer jacket everyday to survive the snow, so it is safe to say that I am glad to be back in Paris!
