Last week, I enjoyed visiting the gorgeous city of Copenhagen, Denmark. The clean aesthetic of the city combined with the art, food, and fashion made me Denmark's newest fan. As an American studying in Paris, going to new countries and exploring has become a weekend norm. I wanted to share from my favorite trip thus far and all my favorite spots in the city.

Copenhagen, Denmark, has now become the new Gstadd. Between the fashion, the art, and the minimalist cafes… it is a hub for a trendy, designer, and culture-filled trip. While there, I could visit a few of my favorite spots. I went to the Copenhagen Contemporary Art Museum, where I was able to see the James Turell Exhibit, Nyhaven Street, where I visited the mini trampolines by the lake, saw the gorgeous Boat Houses, and was able to go to Copenhagens original: Ganni Post Modern (the outlet store) and do some fantastic shopping.

Below is a travel guide on how to spend a perfect weekend in Copenhagen!

Start your trip:

Day 1

  • Go to Nyhaven Street: the colorful houses are so picturesque and have very cute restaurants and market booths to grab a traditional Denmark snack!

  • Trampolines (at the end of Nyhaven street): Jump on the miniature trampolines as you look along the water and enjoy your time in the fantastic city of Cope

  • Collectors cage: If you love vintage designers, visit the unique collector cage store to see a fantastic collection of vintage designer bags.

  • Union Kitchen: Stop at Union Kitchen for a fantastic brunch; I recommend the fries and breakfast sandwich!

  • Go to the Glass Market: An indoor tented food market with exceptional options of snacks, fresh produce, and specialty baked goods. So lovely to walk around and sample all the options.

  • Dinner at Bazarr: a delicious Mediterranean spot to share plates and get a solid meal. I recommend the hummus and dips.

  • Stop at The Jane: a cool Copenhagen local bar, to grab a drink, listen to music, and people-watch.

Day 2:

  • breakfast at Sect Cafe: the delicious minimalist cafe is a great brunch spot for eggs and coffee.

  • Rosenborg castle and gardens (the kings garden): For your traditional Sight Seeing

  • Go to Gasoline Grill for lunch: The ‘Best’ Burger spot in Copenhagen.

  • Go to Copenhagen Contemporary Museum; Get tickets there, go to the James Turell exhibit, and walk around to see the purple room and other interactive art exhibits.

  • Stop at Lillie Bakery: a minimalistic bakery, and get a delicious fresh dutch pastry right after the art exhibit, 5 minutes walk away from each other.

  • Do Copenhot in the afternoon: outdoor, hot tub, and sauna. Grab a drink and go with friends and you sit, relax, and enjoy as you take a cold plunge and

  • Dinner at Esmee 8:45: Amazing sit-down restaurant. Favorite meal in Copenhagen. They have a fantastic ambiance and delicious food; I suggest the green salad and truffle mac and cheese.

This is how you spend a fantastic quick trip to Copenhagen and get the most out of a 48-hour trip to an amazing upcoming city! (image from the Copenhagen Contemporary Art Museum)
